Spring 2024Thursdays: February 1, 8, 15, and 224:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. in the RUSMP classroom, 5615 Kirby Drive, Suite 300Join this fun and relaxing short-course. Prove some of Anne’s favorite theorems and share some of your favorites. Proof and justification are the cornerstones of mathematics. This course is designed for teachers who are seeking to review approaches to construct mathematical proofs. We will prove statements using a variety of methods – direct proof, contradiction, the law of contraposition, and mathematical induction, and will read classical proofs of important theorems.The purpose of this short course is to help teachers develop students’ mathematical reasoning so that students may confidently read and construct proofs. I promise it will be enjoyable doing math with others who also love math!Each teacher will receive course materials and professional development credit (12 hours).Enrollment is limited.The fee for this course is $400. An invoice for this amount will be sent to your school. Payment must be made prior to the first class meeting.
