Spring 2024Exploring Algebraic Reasoning (Grades 3-5) Tuesdays: February 6, 13, 20, and 274:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. in the RUSMP classroom, 5615 Kirby Drive, Suite 300This course is designed for elementary teachers who are seeking to strengthen their understanding of algebraic reasoning. The primary focus of the course is exploring algebraic thinking with an emphasis on mathematical processes and utilizing student centered activities that promote success. Concepts are aligned to state and national standards.• Algebraic thinking and symbolic reasoning• Number theory through patterns • Tools for problem solving• Underpinnings of algebraic thinking as it relates to number and geometry• Use of manipulatives and technology to explore concepts• Differentiating instruction• Test-taking strategiesEach teacher will receive course materials and professional development credit. Enrollment is limited.The fee for this course is $400. An invoice for this amount will be sent to your school. Payment must be made prior to the first class meeting.
