Summer 2025Program for Teachers of Grades 2-5July 22-25 (9:00 am – 3:00 pm) in the RUSMP classroom, 5615 Kirby Drive, Suite 300This program is designed for elementary teachers who are seeking to strengthen their understanding of the vertical alignment of length, perimeter, area, and volume in grades 2-5. Topics will be explored through engaging researched-based hands-on explorations, correlations to children’s literature, awareness of mathematics in everyday life, and assessments to measure student understandings.The topics that will be explored in this program include:• Using measuring tools to find length of objects• Solving problems involving length including estimation• Identifying relative size of measurement in customary and metric systems• Converting measurements within same measurement system• Determining the perimeter or polygons and area of rectangles• Finding the volume of a rectangular prism• Solving problems involving perimeter and area• Test-taking strategiesEach teacher will receive program materials and professional development credit.Enrollment is limited.The fee for this program is $1,200. An invoice for this amount will be sent to your school. Payment must be made prior to the first class meeting.
