Spring 2025Teaching Conics in Algebra IIMondays: January 27, February 3, 10, and 24 (4:30 pm – 6:30 pm)in the RUSMP classroom, 5615 Kirby Dr. Suite 300Come rediscover why you love to teach conics. This course is designed for Algebra II teachers who are seeking an active hands-on approach to teaching conics with a historical context. Using a variety of tools and manipulatives, teachers will explore conic sections from the concrete to the abstract and learn more about their real-world applications.The topics that will be explored in this course include:• Overview of Conics and Eccentricity• The Circle• The Ellipse• The Hyperbola• The Parabola• Systems of second-degree equationsEach teacher will receive course materials and professional development credit.Enrollment is limited.The fee for this course is $500. An invoice for this amount will be sent to your school. Payment must be made prior to the first class meeting.
